What Beauty Means to Me

When I reflect on beauty, the words of John Keats instantly spring to mind: “Beauty is truth, truth beauty.” This profound statement captures the essence of beauty beyond mere appearances.

In today's youth-oriented society, we often find ourselves engulfed in a culture obsessed with physical perfection. It's a narrow view that associates beauty with a specific, often unattainable, physical form. However, this perspective is somewhat immature.

Yes, young people can embody beauty, but there's a distinct and deeper beauty that emerges through life's experiences and challenges. As we age, we start to appreciate a more mature form of beauty. This beauty is not just skin-deep; it is cultivated through the way we live our lives.

Returning to Keats' wisdom, it becomes clear that if our life actions are guided by truth, a profound inner beauty develops. This kind of beauty is timeless, transcending age and physical attributes. It radiates from within, reflecting the soul's light through acts of loving-kindness, honesty, and acceptance.

Eleanor Roosevelt beautifully articulated this concept: “Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.” This statement encapsulates the idea that beauty evolves and becomes more meaningful with age.

In essence, beauty is not just about how we look. It's about how we live, how we treat others, and how we embrace our journey through life. It's a reflection of our inner selves, shining through every act of kindness and every truth we uphold.
